ACADEMIC TEST PREPARATION

TOEFL iBT

Duration: 12 weeks
Entry Requirement: Intermediate to Advanced

Course Schedule:

Full Time: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Mon. to Fri.)
Optional Tutorial for Advanced class: 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM (Mon. to Fri.)
Optional Tutorial for Intermediate class: 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM (Mon. to Fri.)


This program is offered with two levels and can be taken to learn how to prepare for the new and challenging internet-based TOEFL or for those just wishing to improve their English language skills. Students will be able to dramatically improve their English communication skills by studying in this program. Concordia Career College offers free tutorials for every student of the TOEFL Preparation course. Students are able to study during this tutorial session and get assistance from the tutorial instructor.

Reading Section

TOEFL iBT Writing

Duration: 12 weeks (Part Time)
Entry Requirement: Advanced
Start Dates: Every Monday (click here for details)
Course Schedule: Intermediate:1:00 PM to 2:30 PM (Mon. to Fri.)
Advanced: 2:45 PM to 4:15 PM

This course is included in the Full Time TOEFL program, but can also be taken by those who wish to just improve the writing section of the TOEFL test.
The TOEFL iBT Writing course is an excellent supplementary course for the TOEFL preparation course. It is also very beneficial for anyone attending high school or entering university wishing to improve their essay writing skills. It is designed to enhance the writing abilities of the advanced TOEFL iBT student or students with a high English competency level, and strictly focuses on the written essay portion of the TOEFL iBT exam. What students can expect from the teachers is constant feedback for all the work done in a timely manner.

This class is quite intensive, as students are required to write at least 2 essays each day in class and 1 for homework.

Also, once a week students will be given a drill exercise where they will be required to write 3 essays in class. Each essay will have to be completed in the 30 minutes.



TOEIC

Duration: 8 weeks (Part Time)
Entry Requirement: Intermediate to Advanced

Course Schedule: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Overview of TOEIC Program
The TOEIC preparation course focuses extensively on all aspects of the TOEIC. Each week is devoted to listening, grammar, and reading comprehension. It is a 2-month intensive course for upper-intermediate and advanced students.
    Monday
    On Monday, the first half of the lecture is focused on Parts I and II of the TOEIC - Pictures and Question-Response. The second half of the lecture is focused on Parts V and VI of the TOEIC - Incomplete Sentences and Error Recognition.

    Tuesday
    On Tuesday, the first half of the lecture is focused on Part III of the TOEIC - Short Conversations. The second half of the lecture is again focused on Parts V and VI of the TOEIC.

    Wednesday
    On Wednesday, the first half of the lecture is focused on Part IV of the TOEIC - Short Talks. The second half is focused on Parts V and VI.

    Thursday
    On Thursday, the lecture is focused on Part VII of the TOEIC - Reading Comprehension.

    Friday
    On Friday for the first two weeks, students will review what was taught during the week and get more practice on each section of the TOEIC. Every Friday for the next six weeks, a full TOEIC practice test will be administered, giving students the chance to experience what it is like to take the real TOEIC test. The same time limits are given for each section of the practice test as on the real test - 45 minutes for Listening Comprehension (Parts I - IV) and 75 minutes for Reading (Parts V - VII), with no break in between. Students will then be given a TOEIC score after their tests are marked. Tape scripts will be handed out and answers will be discussed in class.
